Montgomery County Self Insurance Program has partnered with CorVel Pharmacy Solutions for pharmacy services. CorVel’s network of pharmacists is extensive, with over 65,000 participating pharmacists. Participating pharmacists include several major retail chains, such as Walgreens, Giant Pharmacy, Patient First, Safeway, and CVS.
First Fill services allow the injured employee to fill prescribed medications immediately following a work-related injury. There is no copay or out-of-pocket cost for the employee.
Participating pharmacists provide a limited supply of covered drugs for a claim that is not, at the time, deemed eligible. First Fill transactions follow CorVel’s First Fill Formulary. The First Fill Formulary is for the immediate treatment of injuries.
The supervisor should offer the First Fill Information Flyer to the employee.
A permanent pharmacy card will be issued once CorVel receives the claim, completes a review of the case, and determines compensability.
