The MCSIP offers a Designated Treatment Provider (DTP) who will speak directly with the employee, answer questions, and advise on testing and treatment options.
DTP’s services are free for employees and covered as part of their workers’ compensation claims. Testing of the source is also covered at no cost to the employee.

First Fill is a service MCSIP offers as part of the pharmacy program. It provides medications immediately following an incident at no cost to the employee.
- A temporary pharmacy card is issued immediately once notice is given that an injury occurred.
- The First Fill covers medications prescribed during treatment immediately following a work-related injury or incident.
- The program offered by MCSIP eliminates the need for out-of-pocket expenses; the employee has no deductible or costs to cover.
- The First Fill information is easily accessible and may be texted or emailed.
Source Testing:
- MCSIP covers the cost of source testing provided by the DTP.
- The employee requesting the test must provide CorVel and the DTP with the necessary contact information to reach the source.
- The source must agree to the testing.
- A representative with the DTP will contact the source to coordinate testing.
- If a provider other than the DTP performs testing, the source must permit the results to be released.
Treatment:
If the physician feels treatment is needed, a prophylactic will be prescribed. Pharmacists do not always stock the medication; filling may take 24-48 hours, which is within the treatment protocol.
